Finnish eco-design and sanitaryware manufacturer Woodio has made a major change to its product range, and the company is now aiming for growth in the consumer market. The goal is to make their 100% waterproof solid wood composite material a permanent part of people’s bathrooms – globally.

Woodio, previously focusing on project sales, has taken advantage of the turbulent times caused by the pandemic by packaging its selection in a more consumer friendly way. “Our product range, designed for professional customers, has been very large with hundreds of product variations – exactly over 900. For consumers, we wanted to create a desirable, stylish and conscious selection of bathroom products that makes life easier for those who are building and renovating their own homes.” says Petro Lahtinen, CEO of Woodio.

The new Woodio portfolio, launching today, consists of two collections – Core and Northern Elements. The consumer-friendly Core collection brings together the Woodio product range in three beautiful northern nature inspired tones Natural Aspen, Polar – a warm white and Char – a charcoal black, with prices starting from 399€. Woodio Northern Elements is a curated high-end collection of rich and elegant tones of Moss, Arctic, Stone, Clay, Berry, Root, Natural Birch 6mm and Natural Aspen 5mm – drawing inspiration from the northern elements. Available throughout Woodio product range with prices starting from 699€.

In addition to the portfolio revamp, the company is also launching a new color and two completely new products for the conscious homeowners. Unit80 is a single-piece setup that is integrated into the bathroom cabinet frame. The design is compatible with bathroom cabinets from most furniture manufacturers, including IKEA. The new multipurpose Hook, made from Woodio® material, can be used creatively around the house – as a bathroom towel hook, pulls for storage furniture or even for kitchen cabinets. The new color Polar offers the long-awaited white eco-friendly alternative to the classic white bathroom sink. The warm Polar white is Woodio’s color of the year 2021 and part of the Core color palette.

The renewed Woodio product range remains true to the company’s design philosophy – sustainable Scandinavian functionality, with their environmentally friendly wood material at the heart of the design. The impact-resistant and completely waterproof Woodio® material is an innovative combination of solid wood and resin. The material also serves as a CO2 storage. When the basin reaches the end of its lifecycle, it can be burned as energy waste and it doesn’t end up in the landfills.

“Our goal is to become one of the world’s leading eco-brands, and to slow down climate change by replacing, for example, ceramics with our close to carbon-neutral Woodio® material. That is why it is really important and motivating for us to bring new products to the market and expand our selection in the future as well. ” Petro Lahtinen adds.

All Woodio products are manufactured in Finland at the company’s own factory in Helsinki with close to carbon-neutral manufacturing process. The carbon footprint of the company’s production has been made remarkably small, with the help of highly developed production technology and by utilizing mainly bio-based raw materials. No water is used in the manufacturing and the process does not require energy energy-intensive phases, unlike the combustion of ceramics. The carbon footprint of the Woodio washbasin is 80% smaller compared to a similarly sized ceramic basin.
