The Woodio® material we’ve developed is a completely waterproof wood composite, designed as a more environmentally friendly alternative to ceramics and stone. The material is a combination of wood chips and a resin-based binder.
General information about Woodio material
Woodio material is a wood composite made of wood chips and a resin-based binder. The material is completely waterproof, and its dirt-repellent coating makes it easy to maintain. A small amount of mild cleaning agent is sufficient to keep the material clean, saving chemicals and the environment.
Regular cleaning and care
For regular cleaning, we recommend using a mild soap solution and a soft cleaning cloth, which can easily wipe away common stains. Please do not use steel wool, hard or sharp tools, as these can damage the surface.
The pH value of the cleaning agents used should be between 6 and 8. To preserve the beauty of the product’s surface for a long time, we do not recommend using stronger cleaning agents. If a highly acidic or alkaline substance comes into contact with the surface, it should be rinsed off and the surface dried with a clean cloth.
Please note that dirt and stains, such as toothpaste stains, are more visible on dark colours, and dark surfaces may therefore require more frequent cleaning. By wiping visible stains daily, you can keep your furniture looking beautiful and make maintenance easier.

Cleaning the Woodio Block toilet seat
The Woodio Block toilet seat has the same dirt-repellent coating as other Woodio products. Please do not use cleaning agents intended for ceramic or hard porcelain surfaces. We do not recommend leaving the cleaning agent in the water trap for an extended period; please rinse the cleaning agents away immediately after cleaning.
Note: Do not use acetone or other solvents on the material’s surface.

Solid sheet material and heat resistance
Although Woodio Solid sheet material is heat-resistant, we recommend avoiding direct contact with heat on the surface. Refrain from placing hot objects and utensils directly on the Solid surface; always use a protective layer underneath.
Repairing Solid surfaces
Minor surface damages can be repaired by sanding. Start sanding gently at 600 grit and gradually progress up to 4000 grit, finishing with a polishing wax.
Note: The coating is 0.5 mm thick, and sanding should be done lightly to avoid losing the coating entirely.

Recycling
Woodio material is highly durable, and at the end of its lifecycle, Woodio products and sheet materials can be sent to our factory in Finland, where the material is sorted and used as part of cement production.
