What does the Woodio material consist of?
The Woodio material is an innovative combination of wood chips and a resin-based adhesive.
Are Woodio products sustainable?
All our products are sustainably manufactured in our own factory in Helsinki. We use mainly renewable raw materials – aspen wood from the nearby areas and side streams from the Finnish forest industry. The production technology we have developed plays a major role in reducing our carbon footprint. It has been developed so that our manufacturing process does not require energy-consuming steps, unlike, for example, ceramics. Thus, the carbon footprint of e.g. a Woodio sink is significantly smaller than that of traditional ceramic sink. In addition, the lightness of our material reduces emissions in logistics.
Is the Woodio material really waterproof and solid?
Yes it is fully waterproof and solid. All Woodio products are made of 100% waterproof wood composite, and they have a UV, scratch resistant and dirt repellent coating. Woodio products are practically unbreakable in regular use.
How do I care for my Woodio product?
Woodio products are easy to keep clean thanks to their dirt repellent coating. Clean your Woodio product with a dampened soft cloth and mild non-abrasive detergent or soap. Clean the toilet with detergents meant for use in WC. WC brush can also be used.
Abrasive detergents and tools are to be avoided, as they can scratch the surface of the product. Avoid also very acid or alkaline detergents, which are not meant for toilets. The durability of Woodio material has been verified by substances with a chlorine content of 5%.
Are Woodio products resistant?
The Woodio material is shock resistant and unbreakable in regular use. Thanks to their dirt-repellent coating, products are also easy to keep clean.
How long does a Woodio product last?
The planned service life of our material is tens of years, and all our manufacturing materials have been selected with this goal in mind. The design of our products is also timeless, which means that the products are beautiful and classic even after decades.
How does the Woodio material resist heat?
Woodio Wall panels and Solid sheet material have been tested to resist up to 120 celsius of heat, for the continuous duration of one hour.
What is resin?
Resin is a binding agent commonly used in composite materials to achieve the desired strength and water resistance properties for the material. The resin used by Woodio is a plastic-based mixture of unsaturated polyester and styrene.
Can Woodio material withstand chlorine-based cleaners?
The durability of Woodio material has been verified by substances with a chlorine content of 5%.
Where does the wood used in Woodio products come from?
Aspen wood chips used in Woodio products comes from PEFC- and FSC-certified forests in the Baltic area. Birch wood chips comes from Finnish forest industry’s sidestreams.
Do Woodio products release microplastics?
In regular daily use of the products, no microplastics are released. Plastic can come off due to mechanical wear, i.e. when the product is sanded.
What kind of add-ons are suitable for Woodio products?
Installation of products requires the use of a separate drain valve, water trap and sewer pipe. Woodio products are compatible with standardized add-ons.
What is the minimum anchorage depth required for Woodio washbasins?
For bowl basins and basins with a tap place, the minimum level depth is 350mm. For submersible basins, minimum depth is 500mm.
