Villa Luella is a 170 sqm cross-laminated timber house with pink wooden exterior, situated in the Finnish Archipelago. Jumbo-sized gingerbread shapes framing the windows and the hem of the house give this modern house a fun and cartoony feel. By using wood alongside different shades of pink, this house creates a soothing environment that is designed from mother to daughter.

  • Living area 170 m2
  • Kitchen, living room, 3 bedrooms, bathroom, sauna and terrace
  • Finnish Archipelago

Minna has created the house for herself and her 5-year-old daughter from high-quality materials. Villa Luella is an escape from the city, providing Minna and her daughter a connection to nature with views of the sea and the surrounding reeds, but also all the luxuries they need from a functional house.

Minna wanted to design a harmonious space by combining elements of modern Nordic wood interiors and the calming yet empowering effect of different shades of pink. The two-story building creates a dynamic living space with rooms that each have a different function and mood. The details of the exterior also continue throughout the interior, where Minna has chosen the bare minimum of furniture but all of them being high-quality designer statement pieces.

Who lives here

Minna Parikka is a designer best known for her shoes. She lives with her 5-year-old daughter called Luella. The house has been designed as a social space that’s great for entertaining, so they receive a lot of guests.

Why Woodio?

Minna wanted to equip her house as much as possible with Finnish top-quality design and sustainably developed products. The forms and materials of Woodio are of great interest to her and their roundness matches the design lines of the house. The pink spa area is one of Minna’s favourite spaces in Villa Luella, and also her long-term dream come true.

“It was wonderful to get a special colour matching the colour of the house. Who else has a completely pink bathroom made with such high-quality materials?”, Minna says.

Woodio products

The Woodio Flow bathtub, Woodio Block toilet seat, and Woodio Soft60 washbasin made from dyed wood composite and resin were custom made for Villa Luella in the lovely special shade of pink.

Combined with powdery-toned tiles, wood paneling, and the adjoining sauna, they create a modern bathroom for Minna and her daughter to relax and connect after a day out in nature.
