Company
The Woodio® material we’ve developed is a more environmentally friendly alternative to ceramics and stone. Sustainability is based on minimal water and energy consumption in production, as well as the products’ lightweight and the material’s utilization at the end of its lifecycle.
Recycling
Incorporating materials into cement production
The Woodio material is highly durable, ensuring the longevity of our products. At the end of their lifecycle, Woodio products and panel materials can be delivered to our factory in Finland, from where the material is further delivered for utilizing as part of cement production. The address of Woodio’s factory is Hankasuontie 8, 00390 Helsinki, Finland.
If delivery to our factory is not possible, Woodio’s wood composite can alternatively be sorted into the energy fraction, where the material ends up at an incineration plant for energy production.
Where does the material end up?
Collaboration with Kuusakoski Recycling
In recycling and repurposing Woodio material and products, we collaborate with Kuusakoski Recycling Oy. Disused or unusable items are sent from Woodio’s factory to Kuusakoski for sorting and crushing. The crushed material is then utilized by Finnsementti Oy in parallel processing for cement production.
Woodio’s wood composite recycling route is part of the Finnish KiMuRa project.

Woodio® wood composite
The Woodio® material we’ve developed is a completely water-resistant wood composite, designed as a more eco-friendly alternative to ceramics and stone. The material combines wood chips with a resin-based binder.

Behind the story of Woodion lies a seemingly crazy idea and a group of top professionals in their field who wanted to see the world differently. Our original idea was to manufacture wooden tiles for bathrooms, because it sounded fun and challenging.
