Our story
Behind the story of Woodio lies a seemingly crazy idea and a group of industry experts who wanted to see the world differently. Our original idea was to manufacture wooden tiles for bathrooms – simply because it sounded fun and challenging.
However, we quickly realized that our idea wasn’t just amusing but also significant. The conventional ceramics used in bathroom furnishings is environmentally taxing, especially with its substantial carbon footprint. We had devised a water-resistant wood composite and realized its potential to revolutionize the entire bathroom market by offering a more ecological alternative to ceramics. With our original idea and this realization, here we are now.
The company was established in 2015, and in 2019, we introduced our first products to the market. Today, we continue to grow as an international company, with our bathroom furniture and sheet materials being used in the interiors of private homes, hotels, restaurants, and other public spaces in Finland and worldwide.
A carbon negative 2025
Our mission is to combat climate change by replacing products with a high carbon footprint with our own material innovation. We aim to be a pioneer and a bold innovator in the construction industry. This means setting high goals and continuously improving our operations. Our vision is to be the world’s leading eco-design brand.
Our short-term goal is to achieve carbon negativity for Woodio® material and products by 2025. We are seriously committed to working towards this goal.
At the heart of material design
Woodio products are characterized by their ecological nature as well as aesthetics, durability, and user-centric design. Our unique material is always at the heart of our product design. Functional and minimalist design language allows the material to be visible and tangible. In addition to the material, the exceptional color range further enhances the distinctiveness of the products. You can read more about the colors below:
Product range
Our range includes a comprehensive selection of washbasins for various types of bathroom and toilet spaces, wall-mounted toilet bowls, and freestanding bathtubs. We also offer small accessories, as well as wall and countertop panels. Woodio products are suitable for both home and public spaces. Our products are quick and easy to install. Made in Finland
All Woodio products are responsibly manufactured at our own factory in Helsinki. Our production process uses minimal water, and significantly less energy than the production of ceramic products burned at high temperatures.
The Association for Finnish Work has awarded our products the Key Flag symbol in recognition of domestic manufacturing. Our products proudly bear the Design from Finland symbol as well, which is granted in acknowledgment of the use of Finnish design.

Woodio® wood composite
The Woodio® material we’ve developed is a completely water-resistant wood composite, designed as a more eco-friendly alternative to ceramics and stone. The material combines wood chips with a resin-based binder.
Recycling
Woodio material is highly durable, and at the end of its lifecycle, Woodio products and sheet materials can be sent to our factory in Finland, where the material is sorted and used as part of cement production.
